Hi All, A friend just told me there's a thing called Ipod Shuffle that Apple is now making. It's an Ipod without a screen. Does this sound nifty, or what? I mean, it must be accessible if it doens't have a screen. Apparently all you do is download stuff to it and then tehre's four buttons: play, shuffle, back and forward, and on-off swithc doob. Anyone hear about this? Caitlin

caitlin,
yeap, heard about it. See, the real problem (hehe I hate sounding so negative all the time, I'm really not, only with some things) is that this thing is very stupid, instead of giving us better accessibility it is taking all accessibility away from the sighted, they can't choose a song or folder or anything they just have to guess like we do, what the next song is. I can't imainge sighted people wanting to buy this, there are players on the market, quite as cheap with displays and locator buttons etc that are just much better and still the softwre that comes with them sucks, I've heard, I might be wrong there.
So, well, don't indorse Apple, there are much better mp3 players out there equally or better accessible for the blind
cheers

Hey Caitlin. I've heard of those. They've just come out with them actually. We have an iPod mini, and I'll let you know how accessible it is with the iPod shuffle once my sister decides to purchase it. :) Mp3 players are more accessible, though, so I'd stick with that and not worry about the shuffle.
